NALA Programs

Professional Certification

The NALA professional credential of Certified Paralegal (CP) has been the career standard for over 30 years. The CP designation is gained by passing the NALA CP Exam, which is offered several times per year. The program was expanded, in 2006, to include the Advanced Certified Credential (ACP), for national certification in specialty practice areas. Go to http://www.nala.org/Certification.aspx  for exam details.

Web-Based Live and Self-Study CLE Programs

NALA has offered web-based, self-study programs for paralegals since 1999. Today, paralegals are able to attend live CLE programs via the web and to view archived live programs.

  •  AIPS Advantage: AIPS, in conjunction with Advanced Paralegal Institute, provide online advanced specialty paralegal courses. Go to http://www.aips.com/advanced-courses/ for more information.

Annual CLE Conference

NALA touts its yearly paralegal conference as the largest national paralegal conference. The conference includes in-depth educational programs which focus on several practice areas; a review program for the CP Exam; and, the opportunity for legal vendors to share products. The conference also facilitates NALA business meetings.

Publications

NALA publishes Facts and Findings, a bi-monthly journal for paralegals.

Leadership Development

NALA members and NALA Affiliated Associations are able to participate in leadership development programs. Members may serve on a NALA committee or may participate in the year-long LEAP (Leadership Enhancement and Preparation) program.

Occupational Research

Every two years, NALA conducts a survey of paralegal utilization and compensation. The survey results are published on the website and are accessible to anyone interested in the information. To view the results, go to http://www.nala.org/survey.aspx.
